Seasonality
There are many benefits to purchasing and eating seasonal produce. In-season produce is cheaper, fresher, and tastier. Produce typically tastes better right after it is harvested, rather than after being stored for a while. The seasonality wheel below shows when produce is in season in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area.
Disclaimer: There are several fruits and vegetables provided by FLiPRx that are not grown in the Mid-Atlantic or are sourced from farms further south where growing seasons are longer. Non-local produce includes bananas, pineapples, citrus, mangoes, and avocados — this produce is sourced from different climates that are able to grow them better.
